They claimed that the Laws of Moses stipulated all adulterers be stoned to death in public.
But Jesus looked at them and said, “Let any of you who is without sin be the first to throw stone at her.”
Hearing the challenging words, they all vanished and Jesus said to the sinful woman, “Go now and leave your life of sin.”.
Pastor M of Mavuno Church now seems to be embracing these words spoken by Jesus 2,000 years ago, if his recent sentiments are to be believed.
Speaking on Classic FM’s breakfast show hosted by Mwalimu King’ang’i and Maina Kageni, the flashy pastor said that he is planning to open a church for str!pp£rs and drunkards so as to reform them.
The embattled youth pastor, who is currently the talk of the town after his church posted a p@rn@graphic poster on social media, said that the church has forgotten such people yet they are part of the society. He cited a programme they carried out two years ago where they could go to clubs around town and minister to the drunkards. Surprisingly, many alcoholics gave their life to Christ and they are now staunch Christians.
“I was called for the sinners and that’s why I will use all means to attract the sinners to Christ. I won’t listen to any negative talks.” He added.
During the heated interview, Mavuno’s worship leader, Kanji Mbugua, also supported Pastor M’s idea of starting a church for the str!ppers and drunkards. Kanji said that the church is not for the saints, and that’s why Mavuno Church is fighting so hard to bring lost souls to Christ amidst criticism.
“The Church was called for the sinners and we are following the Bible but people misunderstand us.” Kanji said.
However, their unique way of reaching to the sinners was highly criticized by listeners who claimed that they are just engaging in publicity stunts.
“They are just looking for publicity to bring more Kenyans to their church and hence milk more money from innocent flock.” Said one of the callers.
This leaves one wondering, are Mavuno church pastors being genuine in their unique way of reaching out to the sinners?
